Stored forage is needed in Kentucky for winter feeding. Making round bale silage is a helpful option in situations where hay curing is difficult due to poor curing conditions. It is possible to make high quality silage or baleage using long (unchopped) forage crops baled with large round balers, although balers may need modification to handle wet material.
